Did the call happen?
- Strong inference, yes. It was scheduled, invitees accepted, McCasland confirmed the time, and DeLonge's email ~35 minutes after the start reports what McCasland "mentioned." Knapp's email also refers to "the General... that was on our call."
- Not proven: no minutes, and no one on the call has described it on record.
What this establishes
- McCasland's role: documented in DeLonge's words only ("helped assemble my advisory team," "talk every other day"). McCasland is on the invite list and confirmed attendance; he has never publicly confirmed the advisory role.
- Lockheed Skunk Works was in the loop: Rob Weiss (then Skunk Works head) was invited and asked for updates.
- The planned approach: a White House memo making NASA the public-affairs lead, framed around STEM. That's a managed-disclosure plan in the general's own words, a year before To The Stars launched.
- "Our secret plan" reads as Podesta joking with Palmieri, not evidence of a plot. Flagged as tone, not substance.
Open
- "Michael Carey": identity unconfirmed. A retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Michael Carey exists (former 20th Air Force commander), but the Gmail address doesn't prove it's him.
- Who was the "ranking General" in the Sept 2015 memo? Probably McCasland; not stated.
- The "scientist that worked on a spacecraft at Area 51." Unnamed.
