Michael Carey
Michael Joseph Carey, retired Air Force officer. Commanded 20th Air Force (the ICBM force) until he was relieved in 2013 over conduct on a Moscow trip. Final post: special assistant to the commander of Air Force Space Command (Peterson AFB, Colorado). Retired 1 June 2014, reduced to brigadier general. Probably the 'Michael Carey' on the 25 Jan 2016 DeLonge–Podesta call.

Identification (2026-09-26): probable, not proven
For: 1. Name plus a Gmail handle starting "carey.mj" matches Michael Joseph Carey. 2. Space Command fit: his last post was at Air Force Space Command, Colorado Springs. On 24 Sep 2015 DeLonge wrote Podesta that he was flying "to have dinner with current Commanding Officers at the Air Force Space Command in a couple days in Colorado Springs." 3. Invited alongside another retired general (McCasland) as part of the "committee." 4. InsideSources, Liberation Times and Exopolitics all identify him this way. (All secondary, and they may be copying each other.)
Against / gaps: the trailing "d" in 'carey.mjd' is unexplained. He's never confirmed it publicly. No email from him has any content beyond a calendar acceptance.
Why it matters: 20th Air Force is the nuclear missile force. UFO-at-ICBM-site stories (Malmstrom 1967, etc.) are a major thread. A former ICBM commander on DeLonge's committee would fit that, though that link is speculative.
