The Grand Orient of Italy expelled the P2 lodge (1976-1981)

Unproven What these labels mean →

The source says the Grand Orient of Italy expelled P2 (1976/1981). The Anselmi Commission report contradicts this: the 1976 suspension was requested by Gelli himself as cover, and in 1981 the Grand Orient drafted rules to readmit P2 members.

contradictsparlamento.itAnselmi Commission majority report (Doc. XXIII n. 2, 1984), ch. I §III: P2's work suspended 'a tempo indeterminato' on 26 Jul 1976 at Gelli's own request ('È lo stesso Gelli a chiedere... la sospensione dei lavori della Loggia P2'); the commission calls it 'una più sofisticata forma di copertura'. Gelli personally got a 3-year suspension/censure in a 1976 Masonic proceeding.
contradictsparlamento.itSame report: in autumn 1981 the Grande Oriente drafted rules 'per il reinserimento degli iscritti alla Loggia P2 nel circuito ordinario della vita massonica' (readmission, not expulsion).
documentsparlamento.itSame report: Gran Loggia di Napoli, Dec 1974, Venerable Masters voted almost unanimously for the 'demolizione' of P2; Grand Master Salvini's decree of 30 Dec 1974 abrogated its particular rules.
