Evgeny Podkletnov
Russian-born materials scientist. In 1992 (Tampere University, Finland) he claimed a spinning YBCO superconductor disk reduced the weight of objects above it ('gravity shielding'). Never replicated; widely doubted.

Notes
- DIRD 14's details: the experiment was done 'after hours'; director Pentti Kettunen heard about it but never witnessed it; the disk was made in Russia. The discovery story: pipe smoke rising in the disk's 'shadow.'
- Verified: Nick Cook, Jane's Defence Weekly, July 2002: Boeing's internal project GRASP (Gravity Research for Advanced Space Propulsion) evaluated Podkletnov's claims. The leaked briefing: 'If gravity modification is real, it will alter the entire aerospace business'. Boeing, BAE and Lockheed reportedly approached him; he would only help in the 'white world'. Boeing publicly: interested, but 'not funding any activities in this area at this time' JDW report corporate denial of funding. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugene_Podkletnov
