Bob Lazar: reverse-engineered alien craft at S-4 (1988–89)
Unproven What these labels mean →Says he worked at 'S-4' near Area 51 in 1988–89 reverse-engineering alien craft powered by element 115. His claimed degrees (MIT, Caltech) have no records. But traces confirm he worked at Los Alamos, though as a contract technician, not a physicist.

Traces vs. claims
| Item | What exists | What it shows |
|---|---|---|
| 1982 Los Alamos phone directory | 'Lazar, Robert' with K/M (Kirk-Mayer, a contract staffing firm) | Worked at Los Alamos, but as a contractor |
| Los Alamos Monitor, 27 Jun 1982 | Photo with his jet car; calls him a lab "physicist" | Reporter Terry England later said he took Lazar's word for the title |
| MIT / Caltech degrees | No registrar records (per KLAS and others) | Degrees. Erasure or never enrolled? |
| S-4 employment | He showed a 1989 W-2 for $958.11 from the 'United States Department of Naval Intelligence' (verified via Nevada Current 2021). There has never been a 'Department' (it's the Office of Naval Intelligence), and skeptics say the EIN matches no known federal payer | Would be the strongest trace if authenticated |
| Element 115 | Moscovium synthesized 2003; lasts fractions of a second | 'Stable 115' fuel. The element exists; the stable form he described doesn't |
Against the credential erasure test
- Los Alamos is the inflation signature: a real trace, at a lower level than claimed. That points to inflation for this part, not erasure.
- Degrees are the erasure-vs-never-enrolled fork. The deciding check is classmates, a thesis or professors. Stanton Friedman looked and found none; others (e.g. Corbell's 2018 film) disagree. Status: open.
- S-4 itself has no independent witness on record that isn't in his circle (Gene Huff, John Lear). If one surfaces, that's step 3 of the test.
