Francisco and Jacinta Marto died of influenza-era illness as children, Francisco on 4 Apr 1919 at 10 and Jacinta on 20 Feb 1920 at 9 (the Vatican's biography records bronchopneumonia and her death in a Lisbon hospital); Church accounts say Our Lady had told them she would take them to heaven soon. Their cousin Lucia dos Santos became a Carmelite nun in Coimbra (d. 2005), and Fatima remains a major pilgrimage site: about 100,000 people attended her 2006 reburial there.
